What fun to learn about the SRHS school district! I was actually researching Elbert Hoppenstedt, the first superintendent. He was the author of at least 16 books. My love of reading was kindled (no pun) by his mystery, “The Secret of the Stygian River,” which I read in 5th or 6th grade. Coincidentally, I also became a school superintendent.

I would like to add a footnote: The SRHS Blue Devil mascot was designed by Tobe Levin, Class of 1966.

Nice write up. I went to Shore the first 4 years. My older sister never attended Shore — spent all 4 years at Long Branch High.
