A Journalist’s Journey …
For Spring 2025 borough historian Greg Kelly will conduct several presentations about Monmouth Beach history. A typical production (including commentary and slideshow content) lasts about 45 minutes plus any Q&As. Presentation topics:
Friday, April 25 @ 6:30 pm:
• Deep End: History of Monmouth Beach Bathing Pavilion: The borough’s ever-popular municipal beach club, first opened for Summer 1921, has maintained its charm and appeal ever since.
Friday, May 16 @ 6:30 pm:
• Heroes House: History of the Monmouth Beach Cultural Center: Tales about three separate “sentinels of the shore” (US Life-Saving Association, US Coast Guard and NJ State Marine Police) who called the building home.
June (TBD):
• Party Time: History of the Monmouth Beach Inn: The “MBI” — a hospitable and sometimes raucous boardinghouse/bar — entertained off Manahasset Creek until the 1960s.
