It would be a sad day indeed if they start developing on The Hook. I would love to see it kept as a nature preserve and not get overrun by beach-goers each summer. I am with you — spring and fall are the best times but I love going in the winter, too. It has always been one of my favorite places to shoot!

I served as a Fire Control Officer of “C1” on Sandy Hook from March 1961 to April 1962; then off to Vietnam. I returned to Sandy Hook to command the Battery from June 1967 until June 1968; and back to Vietnam again in June 1968 (my third tour). I came home to Sandy Hook to live in Quarters #6 on Officer’s Row. I was the Adjutant of the 52nd Brigade and worked on “The Hill” but lived in our honeymoon cottage (#6) until May 1971 — when I went off to the Command and General Staff College in Leavenworth, Kansas.
